About Inner Product

How it works

Inner Product is a mainstream online dating and matchmaking service built around scheduled video speed-dating events.

Step 1

Answer a short survey

Visitors answer a short 3 min survey about themselves and what they are looking for. The survey helps Inner Product understand preferences, deal breakers, and reciprocal fit before an event begins.

Step 2

Join a scheduled online event

Attendees sign up for a virtual event at a specific time, such as 9pm on a Monday night. Attendees pay to attend each event.

Step 3

Meet one-on-one by video

When the event starts, attendees are paired with other attendees based on their survey answers. Each event may include up to 6 matches, with each video date lasting about 8 minutes.

Step 4

Choose who to reconnect with

After the event, attendees complete a follow-up survey saying who they want to connect with again and what contact information they want to share, if any.

Step 5

Mutual matches are notified

If two attendees both choose to connect, Inner Product notifies them of the mutual match and shares only the contact information each attendee chose to provide. From there, it is up to the attendees to contact each other.

Meet people, not profiles

No swiping. No texting. Just face-to-face, real-time chats. Other than the scheduled one-on-one video chats during an event, Inner Product does not provide an ongoing messaging, texting, or chatting component between attendees.

What's with the name?

We like people, data, and a good double meaning.

Dating with intent starts with what's beneath the surface: what you value, what you want, and what you're genuinely open to. Those inner thoughts matter, and so does communicating them clearly.

In mathematics, an inner product measures how two things align. It's a small, fundamental operation with an outsized role in modern technology, including machine learning.

Questions that work both ways

If you've ever wondered how “What does your perfect weekend look like?” is supposed to determine whom you should date, so have we.

Our questions are short, practical, and two-sided. We ask about you and about what works for you. We use those answers to look for reciprocal fit and make better introductions.

The middle ground

Dating apps offer plenty of profiles and very little time together. In-person events offer plenty of people and very little context. Texting is a low-bandwidth way to learn whether you actually click, while walking into a crowded mixer can leave too much to chance.

You might bond over the same favorite Game of Thrones episode, only to discover two dates later that they want three kids and a polyamorous relationship while you're planning a monogamous DINK life. Neither person is wrong. It just would have been useful to know sooner.

Inner Product aims for the middle ground: enough information to make a thoughtful introduction, followed quickly by the face-to-face conversation that no questionnaire can replace.

We use a little math to make the introduction. You decide if there's chemistry.
